FAQs
Here are some of the most commonly asked questions
-
What is nutritional therapy?Nutritional therapy is guided by the principles of functional medicine, focusing on the body as a whole and supporting the body's natural systems to promote overall health and wellbeing. Nutritional Therapists do not diagnose or treat, but look to enhance the function of body systems such as digestion, detoxification, endocrine and immune function through personalised nutrition and lifestyle strategies based on our clients unique health history and goals. We work collaboratively with our client's GP and may write to them (with client permission) to request blood tests. We may also use functional testing (private testing) to further guide our approach and may suggest nutritional supplements which are evidence backed and checked against any existing medications.

Can nutritional therapy help me?Personalised nutritional therapy consultations are relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis; anyone with persistent digestive issues or those wishing to support an autoimmune condition, as well as those looking to enhance their health and well-being. NB - Recommendations are not a replacement for medical advice; practitioners frequently work alongside medical professionals to support individuals’ well-being.

What is a programme of support?A programme is a package of nutrition and lifestyle consultations, usually over 12 weeks, offering various levels of support (weekly or fortnightly for example) depending on where you are on your health journey. Consultations take place over Zoom, or phone if you prefer. Working together over 12 weeks allows time for new healthy habits to inbed and for you to experience positive change and feel the benefits. My clients invest in a programme when they are committed to reach their goals and find the one to one support invaluable.

What can I expect from a one-to-one programme?Your one-to-one programme is an investment in your health and I will coach you every step of the way until you reach your goal. We will work closely together, usually over 12 weeks because clients achieve greater success when changes are made over time in achievable steps. We will work at your pace to achieve your goals, whatever they are. I will take a deep dive into your health history, diet and lifestyle, and the challenges you face. I may suggest GP tests, functional tests or nutritional supplements. Your personalised wellness plan will be designed to fit into your busy life and will be based on eating delicious, nutritious food that nourishes you, rather than cutting out whole food groups and feeling deprived. This is not a diet and it is not an overnight quick fix, this is targeted, and achievable nutrition and lifestyle change for long-term health and vitality. This is a way of life that you can do forever and that you will enjoy.
